Having read over 200 books in 2022, below are some of my favorite books from that year:
Fiction: “Our Missing Hearts,” “All the Lovers in the Night,” “Regretting You,” “Portrait of a Thief,” “Breasts and Eggs”
Historical Fiction: “The Attic Child,” “The Nightingale,” “The Cartographers,” “The Stationery Shop,” “The Magnolia Palace”
Fun beach reads: “Carrie Soto is Back,” “This Time Tomorrow,” the “American Royals” series, “The Last Letter From Your Lover”
Nonfiction/Memoir: “Go Back to Where You Came From: And Other Helpful Recommendations on How to Become American,” “Year of the Tiger: An Activist’s Life,” “Permission to Come Home: Reclaiming Mental Health as Asian Americans”
Thrillers: “Things We Do in the Dark,” “Malice”
Short ‘n Sentimental: “Before the Coffee Gets Cold” series, “The Miracles of the Namiya General Store”
Graphic Novels & Young Adult: “Troublemaker,” “Anatomy”
it’s interesting that most of these are written by AAPI authors, which is something I pretty much had no access to growing up! Cheers to more diverse reads for the current generation today.
