I’ve been following Ryan Higa for years on YouTube-he has the funniest videos (SO clever). I finally got to meet him at BookCon a couple years ago, which was amazing. I loved reading his book for so many reasons-it really does tell you a lot about how to write first of all (don’t be fooled by the title), and I really appreciated the humor in his comics.
Ryan delves deep into his childhood (and all our childhood experiences always affect us, even 50+ years later-we just can’t escape it), and mixes in sarcasm, wit and silly humor to narrate his story. Even though there’s a ghostwriter, I could hear his voice entirely. I feel for him-the middle school years are tough. But look where he is now-now THAT’S inspiring!
